Rope access in Berlin

On the rope, from a platform or from scaffolding.

Rope access

Repair, install, inspect on the rope

Where ladders and platforms can't reach. Entrances stay in use.

As rope access technicians in Berlin we work on facades, in atriums and under hall ceilings, wherever a mobile platform has no room or no load-bearing floor. We anchor from above, on two separate ropes. Only the area directly below the work point is closed off.

Facade works

Loose panels, open joints, water

BEFORE AFTER

Repairs before the damage spreads.

We check every suspect spot by hand: grip, apply pressure, tap test. On a Berlin office building that meant nine descents and 19 panel pieces, 18 of them loose and removed in the same visit. Every finding is photographed and mapped on the facade plan.

Safety & bird nets

Pigeon control, secured openings

Anchored in the load-bearing structure, not in the insulation.

In a Berlin underground car park: around 35 m² of netting over a refrigeration unit and pipework, anchored through 150 mm of insulation into the concrete, with a maintenance flap and a zip opening for the fans. A few weeks later another 270 m² followed on the same property.

Facade & glass cleaning

Glass in atriums and light wells, natural stone with steam instead of acid, as on the sandstone facade of the Mitchell Library in Glasgow.

Installation & rigging

Trusses, anchor points, equipment

Suspensions made to measure, indoors and out.

Installation under hall ceilings and glass roofs: in the foyer of a Berlin event arena we replaced 17 smoke detectors above the glass roof in one day, without a lift and without scaffolding. For one ceiling installation the centre ring hangs at 15 metres, the truss at 10 metres.

Tree care

Rope climbing, backyards included

Deadwood, crown care and clearance pruning. We check for nests first.

Safety

Frequently asked questions

When is rope access worth it instead of a scaffold?

When the work is at individual spots rather than across the whole façade. One example: 17 smoke detectors in a glass foyer. A scaffold would have meant a week of setup for one day of work; on rope it was all done in a day. If the whole façade needs working on for weeks, a scaffold is the right call. Then we work from the scaffold.

Is it safe?

Yes. Every technician hangs on two ropes, each anchored separately: if one fails, the other holds. Tools are tethered, the area below is closed off, and before every job we have settled how we would get someone off the rope. Our technicians are IRATA or FISAT certified, and we work to TRBS 2121 Part 3, the German rule for work on ropes.

How quickly can you be on site?

For a site visit in Berlin, usually within a few days. If something is hanging loose over a pavement or entrance, or water is getting into the building, you come first. Send a few photos ahead by WhatsApp or email, and we know before the visit what to bring.

What does a job on rope cost?

We give you the price after the site visit, as a fixed price with every item listed. On rope you pay no scaffold hire, no setup and dismantling, and no weeks with a scaffold in front of the building. For individual damage spots, that makes the difference.

Rope access technician, facade climber, rope access technician: is that the same thing?

Yes. All of them mean technicians who work on rope; the technical term is rope access. Our technicians are IRATA or FISAT certified and work to TRBS 2121 Part 3.

Do you also work under hall ceilings?

Yes. Smoke detectors, nets, trusses and suspensions under hall ceilings and glass roofs, anchored to the roof structure. The hall or foyer stays open; only the area below the work point is closed off.

What do I get after the job?

A photo record; for inspections every finding is numbered and located on plan and photo, as an online view and a PDF. Our sample report shows what that looks like.
