Facade inspection by rope access in Berlin

Project, 30 July 2026

The situation

A drone survey at an office building in Berlin had reported loose fibre cement panels. From a distance you could see the damage, but not whether the panel was really loose. Below the facade are entrances and walkways. The owner needed certainty, and needed it to a deadline.

Solution

Hands-on inspection by rope access, securing on the same visit. Every suspect spot by hand: set against it, apply pressure, tap test. Worked to TRBS 2121 Part 3.

How it was done

Nine descents over the east and west facades. No scaffolding, no aerial work platform, only a cordoned-off area at ground level.

Result

19 panel pieces checked: 18 loose, taken down under control and brought to the ground in containers. One firmly seated fragment stayed in place. Every find photographed, numbered and mapped onto the facade drawings. One panel reported as cracked was checked by hand and undamaged. The drone finding was the neighbouring panel. Handed over as photo documentation with mapped findings; how such a report is structured is shown by our interactive inspection report. Two weeks later, we received a follow-up order for the same building.
